Snowdon Sunset

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Stunning conditions in the mountains during what has been a very dry and mild Winter so far, we had some early snowfall on the tops, making it a great opportunity to run up Snowdon and catch a sunset. We took full Winter kit with us, adding layers as we ascended, we generally find it better to start a bit cooler and warm up with effort, rather than over heat and produce a lot of moisture through perspiration. The snow cover started at around 800m, with recent traffic it had become consolidated and ideal for running, higher up Allt Goch on the slopes of Garnedd Ugain there was wind crust, so we decided to put our micro spikes on, which made the rest of the climb to the summit a lot more fun and the descent back to Clogwyn effortless.
